[She isn't acting like an affection zombie, but there's no way she wouldn't return Han's embrace, especially as relieved and emotional as he's being. Her arms go around him, and she nuzzles her cheek against his.]
[He may say it isn't urgent, but Leia gets back to Qui-Gon not long after receiving his message. There's no point in putting things off, if you ask her, urgent or not.]
[The clarification is appreciated, even if it's what she assumed as soon as he mentioned family portraits. And her response is immediate, with no hesitation in her voice.]
I would.
[Not just with Bail, with Han and Ben, too. But she knows full well Ben would be difficult to cooperate with in this.]
You don't have to ask twice. If I notice anything odd, you'll be the first to know.
[Not that she's sure she'd notice anything off, given she didn't earlier. But this time, perhaps, now that she's aware of it, she'll be able to catch that behavior more quickly and put a stop to it.]
[While she does try and keep an eye on the amulet and its happenings, sometimes there were just too many people clamoring for attention for her to listen to them all.]
[And it's a genuine sentiment, not her being rude or sarcastic. She's much happier when she's being consulted on things rather than having them sprung on her.]
Did you not want portraits for yourself?
[Since he asked her before checking on his services and all.]
[Even after being here for so long, it's still weird to think about some of these people--people she's never met--being dead back home. But that's not her main point here.]
[he draws back from the hug at last, just in time for her to catch the hurt look on his face. an unfortunate coincidence, as if he realized he was making that kind of face he'd probably prefer her not to see it.]
Do you want me to?
[he sounds unhappy about that possibility, too. he came home early to spend time with her, it would be pretty demoralizing for her to shoo him back to work.]
[even if she didn't intend to ask him to leave--or even want him to, really--she feels a bit bad upon seeing the hurt expression on his face. She isn't sure how he'll take the gesture, given how uncertain he looked at her reaching for physical contact before, but Leia reaches up to brush his hair back, a fond sort of smile on her face.]
I was hoping you wouldn't. You're already here, so there's no point in making the trip back.
[not just because she does like spending time with him, but also because of something happens and she starts acting strange again, having Han here to help would be a relief.]
[he watches her cautiously, but doesn't move away and even relaxes a bit as she messes with his hair. it's not that he doesn't want her to touch him, it's that he's wary of it being a trigger to whatever was affecting her before.]
Oh. [and with that explanation, the hurt fades from his expression, leaving a slightly guarded but otherwise relaxed expression in its place.] Right, yeah. It's been a while since we had a day together, anyway.
[a couple weeks since he had a dedicated day off, which isn't too bad but also isn't ideal. stupid thieves and their stupid hassling his ship every time he turns his head for five seconds.]
[she frowns just so slightly at his guarded expression. Because she's fine--or she thinks she's fine, anyway, not that she thinks she'd notice if she were still behaving the way Han said she was before--and she doesn't want Han acting like this every time she tries to touch him from now on.]
I'm not going to freeze, Han.
[well. She can't promise that but she can still bluff and be reasonably confident in her response.]
[he says a touch fussily. her reaction seemed to change a little after he rejected her affections so that might have been it? but she snapped out of it after he explained about their life back home real slowly, so maybe that was it too?? he hates this uncertain crap.]
Do you remember what we were talking about at all? Before, uh, you felt better.
[eventually, she's sure, it might come back. But for now any attempt to think back on the past day or so only brings up fuzzy bits of memories and feelings that just seem off. And if those memories didn't come back, well, from how he's described them, she's not so sure she'd mind.]
