[Leia is genuinely surprised to actually hear from Obi-Wan, even more that he's offering an apology of some sort. The distrust and anger from before is still present, but at significantly lower levels than before. She's gotten somewhat of a handle on herself, thanks to time, ensuring Bail's safety, and also Han's presence.]

[she's not one to mince words here.]

I won't make excuses, but I can assure you that I'm taking every step necessary to make sure Anakin is under control to the best of my ability.

[He had genuinely hoped that Anakin would come around by now, but it seemed he needed a more hands on approach. And yet, it took all this time for both of them to realize it.]

He's calmed down, and will be living with me for the foreseeable future so that I can keep an eye on him. He's unarmed, and at least for now, he's not to leave my side.

[So if you see any wandering Anakins around that have escaped, you know who to call Leia.]

I'm taking his threat very seriously.

[she doesn't fully trust that Anakin has calmed down--since he's always been irrational to her, and she doesn't trust him to be otherwise--and disarming Anakin does little when he has the Force. But, it's more than she actually expected Obi-Wan to do. The suspicion is still there behind her words, but perhaps slightly less strong than before.]

All the same, I feel safer with Master Jinn staying with my father for the time being.

Of course, I would not expect any different.

[For now they needed to take every precaution so he wouldn't even suggest that Bail not be protected. He encouraged it actually.]

Do you expect him to try and follow through on that threat?

[It's a serious question and a serious concern of hers. His answer won't make her tell Qui-Gon he can leave, not for a while, but it's something she wants to know. Her assumption is always the worst of Anakin, so she's still leaning toward "yes" on this question for herself.]

As of right now, no. But... that could change in an instant. Hence why precautions must be taken, just in case.

[He wants to believe that Anakin wouldn't follow through on it, but he wasn't so naive as to think that it couldn't happen. He knew quite well what his former Padawan is capable of, and how quickly his anger could escalate. That's why he's keeping Anakin close.]

[At least Obi-Wan isn't making excuses and assuming the best of Anakin anymore. His honesty is something she can and does appreciate given the seriousness of their situation. It's what she'd hoped he would've realized earlier on, but well, that goes without saying. She doesn't even need to say "told you so" when she's aware that Obi-Wan already knows she was right.]

And what of you? Will you be safe?

[She doesn't know it was Obi-Wan that Anakin attacked on the surface, but she does know he has been attacked once before. While she's grateful Obi-Wan is taking a hands-on approach this time, she doesn't want him getting hurt, even with their differences being what they were.]

[Regretfully, yes. Though in a way, it took all of this for Anakin to realize that he had a problem to begin with. So it wasn't exactly a complete loss or waste of time. So he doesn't quite regret giving Anakin a chance. He deserved that much, even if Leia doesn't think so. It's just that he blew it and now the next step had to be taken.

Though he has realized maybe he should have taken a few more steps before now.]

Well... Anakin is stronger than I am. I can hold my own in most cases, but that's another reason why I wanted him to live here. I won't be alone with him.

[Well. She already knew Anakin was stronger than Obi-Wan, but part of that she sort of attributed to his age at the time. The age he is now, though, maybe he'll stand a better chance.]

Who do you live with?

[Because well. She avoided Obi-Wan's place in the past because it was near where Anakin used to live. She doesn't know who he lives with now thanks to that.]

[And he actually lives in a different place now all together.]

Master Qui-Gon and Rey.

[Obviously Qui-Gon is a bit busy right now thanks to protecting Bail, but Rey was still around. Probably not happy with this turn of events but he trusted her to help him if the need arose.]

Rey?

[She knows Rey, sort of. Not well, they've only spoken a few times, but she knows what she looks like. And she's not so sure she likes the idea of counting on her to help contain Anakin.]

You'd have her help you contain Anakin if things take a turn for the worse?

Contain him? No. But I know she would go for help.

If the worst happens and I'm unable to stop him, I'm not certain there's anyone else that could. Prevention is the only good option here.

[Well that's better than she was originally thinking. Going for help is acceptable.]

There's Luke.

[But she doesn't know how much of a chance Luke would even stand, and really, she doesn't want to find out.]

But, thank you.

[Because she's at least not above thanking him for finally coming to his senses and doing what needs to be done.]

That's true, but I'd rather not ask that of him.

[But if it came down to it, he might have to. The number of Jedi that could put up a fight against Anakin were few, and even then might not be enough. Still, that was a last resort.]

... There's no need to thank me. But... you are welcome.

[A bit of grief actually leaks through at that point.]

I don't disagree with that. Luke is... already in a difficult enough position.

[Which is mostly her fault, or at least she feels like it is. The details, she knows, Obi-Wan doesn't need.

But she feels that grief, and while she doesn't fully trust Obi-Wan as she did before, he's doing her (and the rest of Empatheias) a favor. So she can't help but ask--]

Are you sure you'll be fine?

I'll have to be.

[There really wasn't much of a choice was there? But he wasn't going to lie and say this wouldn't be difficult.]

Don't worry, I will do what I have to if it comes to that.

[Even if he didn't want to. Even if it might tear him apart.]

[She knows this is hard for Obi-Wan, she does. But she can't help that small feeling of vindication at Obi-Wan finally admitting the one reassurance she wanted from him. But mostly, she's grateful that he's finally (as far as she sees it) doing something about Anakin, that he's proving himself somewhat trustworthy again.

The feeling of distrust that had been a constant throughout their conversation thus far chips away further. It's not fully gone, but it's a noticeable shift, as slight as it might be.]

Thank you, again. For proving I can place my trust in you.

[Between that and not being the one to tell Anakin.]

Of course.

[His words are genuine, but there's a distinct tiredness to them. For at what cost would he earn her trust? Obi-Wan would simply hope for the best, and strive to make sure that Anakin didn't become what everyone feared he might.]

[And with that, the Jedi Master cut off the connection. Intending to get some rest himself while Anakin was currently sleeping.]
