[It's not the sort of personal question she was expecting, and it's the sort she doesn't mind answering at all. Leia can't help the bubbling of fondness from her end of the connection as she answers. It may not be the most traditional or extravagant or even the most romantic proposal, but it was all very "them," and she wouldn't change it.]

I don't know yet how it'll happen back home.

[But she can't imagine it would be too different. Her assumption is just that they both agree they're basically married already, just as they did here, so they should just go ahead and actually get married.]

When he proposed, he mentioned how another person here from our galaxy had already been telling people we were married, and that he wanted to tell people the same. I was the one who asked if he wanted to have an actual wedding ceremony.

[ similarly, the reaction that he can gather from her link makes him crack a smile to himself. he's asking with a vague idea of the kind of man is from how leia has described him, and her answer does fit the image. ]

I see... That's quite the heartwarming gesture.

[ and unfortunately not one that he can translate to his own situation, but it's nice to see leia happy regardless. he's expecting questions of her own after an inquiry like that, so he prepares himself to answer. ]

[ contrary to his usual collected demeanor, he actually seems quite flustered upon being asked so directly. the sound of his throat clearing can be heard as he tries to compose himself, considering how to explain it. ]

I suppose it's a bit more... complicated.

[Perhaps she shouldn't have asked that directly, but it's the logical assumption, to Leia, after a question like that.]

Complicated in what way, if you don't mind my asking?

[ he doesn't mind her asking; he just wasn't prepared to answer, because he is a lovestruck dork. he pauses, giving himself enough time to gather his thoughts. the reasons are actually fairly serious. ]

It's several factors at play. First and foremost, we haven't been in each other's lives long enough to rationalize a proper proposal - a few short months isn't much in the grand scheme of things.

Aside from that is the fact that we are from completely different worlds. Making such a show of commitment with that in mind shouldn't be done so hastily.

[ the marriages he knows to have taken place in empatheias have a common thread in that they were each between people originally from the same world. it made things simpler, knowing that even if one returned to that world, they would still be able to see each other - or even have a chance at meeting, for that matter. he and ignis don't have that luxury. ]

That being said... I still want to make some sort of gesture.

Time, being from different worlds, and how unpredictable Verens could be are all things that can and should have an impact on how serious a relationship becomes, but at the same time--]

The circumstances here are different than they would be in our own galaxies, that's true. But you do love him, don't you?

[ he's thought about it plenty, as much as the worst-case scenario leaves a heaviness in his chest. he hasn't let fear dictate their relationship so far, but with ignis having already returned home once and steven recently having become the only one from his world left, he has to wonder what the best course of action should be. his heart and his mind are at odds with one another - it's a new sensation for him.

This world provides us with opportunities not possible in our own homes. In my own case, it's given me the chance to spend time with people long since passed in my time.

In your case, it's given you the chance at a relationship impossible anywhere else. I think it's important to take advantage of these opportunities, because there's no way to know when things might change and what you may regret not doing when you had the chance.

he listens carefully - although it isn't anything he doesn't already know, hearing it from a third party does drive the message a bit deeper. it's true that they've based quite a bit of their relationship on not wasting time... even so, he has to wonder if this sort of gesture would be crossing a threshold that they weren't ready for. ]

We'll have to discuss it. At the very least, I was planning to offer a ring... I don't see myself committing to anyone else.

[Steven's situation is different from her and Han's, she knows that full well, but that last comment reminds her of everything the two of them have been through. So at the very least, it gives her a bit better frame of reference for trying to both understand where Steven is coming from and giving her advice and thoughts.]

A good place to start. And it's not as if giving rings has to lead to a large ceremony or anything of that sort. In my own case, we had something small, with only a handful of people present.

Han thought so, but he's more than a bit biased.

[of course, more than just Han felt that way, but Leia's concerns with her appearance have always been minimal and more about whether her appearance was appropriate for the situation than anything. But even with that, she does think the both of them looked nice at their wedding.]

The gesture alone means more than enough on its own, I know that personally. Having an official ceremony, for us, was more because of the people present here in Verens than anything, but Han took the planning very seriously regardless.

He sounds like a dedicated man. I'd like to meet him properly someday - unfortunately, I only know him from his... "outbursts" over the crystal.

[well Han's not a total idiot, at any rate. Still an idiot some of the time, but she loves him anyway.]
