[independence from....uh...bothering to write a log for this i guess. IT TAKES PLACE ON JULY 4TH IS WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY.
anyway han hit the hawk early to take care of some basic stuff today, and by eleven or so is already back at the house, making delicious smells come from the kitchen area as he whips up an extremely basic cake for the birthday boy who explicitly asked not to have one. it's han's life and he'll do what he wants, dammit.
being focused on his goals, he didn't even bother to check if anyone else was in the house before getting down to business. he's a man on a mission, who also happens to be grumbling to himself as he works on making some kind of icing. something something dumb twerps, something something birthday crap. you know, the usual.]
[More than the sound (and smells) of someone working in the kitchen--since Natsume seems to have taken it upon himself to help out in the kitchen sometimes--what catches Leia's attention is the grumbling. She doesn't need much context for it, with Natsume's message being fresh in her mind, and if her impression is correct, it's something she'd like to help with.]
You look busy.
[Even though she can see what he's doing, it's an invitation for him to tell her what he's doing.]
[She isn't in the best of moods, so keeping herself busy is the best she can do. She makes some deliveries herself instead of sending her birds, and on her way she keeps Chandelure out to melt any ice she sees around. Elios truly went all out... not that she needs proof. She felt it herself.
Today she approaches the area after hearing some commotion but when gets there, someone has already have taken care of it. Someone that makes Bianca smile a little bit at least.]
[Leia turns from focusing on helping take care of the ice wall to face Bianca, greeting her with an assured sort of smile, and a nod to Chandelure, too. The situation here all taken care of, she has no problem at all with taking a short break to talk to her, or to talk and also work on melting the wall remnants together.]
It's best to help out where I can, when I'm able.
[So that's a yes. Besides, she was personally affected by all this, so she has personal reason to help remove Elios' effects if she can.]
Did you and... Chandelure just arrive?
[She sounds unsure and hesitant with the Pokemon name, but she thinks it's right. Hopefully it's right.]
[Oh look, Leia. A messenger bird dropped off a small package for you! Inside is a crystal of some sort - not the kind that people here use for amulets, but something similar. The note attached is written in scrawled Aurebesh, the handwriting likely familiar.]
[it has been a long, long week for han. it seems like everyone he knows has gone out of their blessed minds, including his wife. who doesn't think she's his wife anymore, and doesn't think she's from alderaan anymore, and doesn't want han to generally be anywhere near her in the bed anymore...though he supposes that at this point he should be grateful that she's in the bed at all, as she went through a brief phase where she was sleeping on the couch. even knowing that scientist-types are aware of the problem and working on it doesn't make han feel much better. hey, he doesn't trust the government and he's tweaked about not being able to fix the problem himself. give him a break.
it hasn't been too long since they've gone to bed, and han is grudgingly staying on his side of the bed, trying not to squirm too much or be too obvious about the way he's watching leia. it's been a few days, so, maybe he can sneak a little bit closer without annoying her? he feels like his chances aren't great, but he shimmies about a quarter of an inch closer to her anyway.]
[Leia would be lying if she said she believed this whole crystal cure nonsense. Largely because, well, she's still convinced nothing is wrong, and that perhaps everyone here is just from different universes that seem similar on the surface. That's what the case was with Ben, according to him, so it stood to reason that perhaps Han is from another one of those, where she's from Alderaan instead of Luke.
But after having that crystal around--albeit reluctantly--everything becomes a jumble of memories, real and false, all eventually settling into place. Han was, of course, correct, and correctly concerned about her and this dream dust allergy. The mechanics of however that must have happened are something she doesn't get, but that doesn't matter as much, if this cure works now. Instead, it's what she was utterly convinced was true that weighs on her mind more than how it must have happened.
She knows he's watching her, even as she pretends to be asleep, and when she feels the mattress shift as he inches closer, Leia opens an eye and reaches out, grabbing hold of his hand.]
I'm sorry, Han. I can't make any excuses for how I behaved this past week, but I'm sorry.
[Ezra's "voice" comes across as a little lackluster, empathetic but borderline depressed. It hasn't been a good past few days for him since Ahsoka disappeared. Still, he saw Leia's warning, and Anakin's response, and he can guess she's having a rough time, too.]
[ When Leia wakes, she will find that her crystal is glowing! her emotion drops for tshe month of Octha have resonated with Empatsheias' giant crystal, and a reaction has been formed.
By her feet, she will find a laser pointer. The light that comes out of it is bright green. If and when she's irritated and she uses it, the laser's intensity will be greater and it might even be able to cut through things.
(Thank you for submitting to tshe Emotion Tracker!) ]
[ never one to have taken to verensian messenger birds, steven has opted for skarmory to do his holiday deliveries. leia will receive a package at her doorstep as he makes his rounds, along with a card tucked into it written in neat cursive. ]
Leia,
Though I doubt that the holiday that Verens has seemingly adopted is celebrated in your world (nor is it recognized in mine), I wanted to commemorate the occasion with a gift. I appreciate the readiness to lend an ear that you've given me over the time that we've known each other - know that I will do the same for you if it's ever needed.
I came across these during my travels in Briarlan, and thought that you might find them interesting. As we both know, knowledge in this world is invaluable.
Happy holidays, Steven Stone
[ inside the wrapping is a book on briarlan history and culture, along with a steel bookmark made by an artisan from city itself. ]
[ On the day of Christmas day, a bird flies over to Leia, bringing her a neatly wrapped present dressed up in green paper. Inside there's a hand knitted scarf and a star and moon necklace. There's also note tucked in with her presents. ]
Merry Christmas, Miss Leia! May you have the grandest holiday. From, Sonia Nevermind
[And another present at her door! Inside the package is a tin of cookies, pins for her lovely hair, and a hideous white scarf with LEIA in big black letters. Minnie tried.
[ Of all the things to wake up and find in bed, a stuffed llama is certainly not one of them... one that even talks, apparently, when squeezed.
Not all too familiar with the little stuffed creature and wondering what it could mean, he takes the stuffed llama with him to Han and Leia's room, looking the thing over with hair tousled and still dressed in his pjs.
Gently, he knocks on the door that's already slightly open and pushes through it with the back of his hand, still eyeing the stuffed llama with curiosity. ]
Hey, did either of you put this in my room by mistake?
[ And that's when he glances up and catches sight of what looks like a lightsaber in Leia's possession and he stops. Stares. When... did she get... one of... those? ]
[Leia, unlike her brother, is dressed for the day, her hair tightly braided around her head, as is usual for her. Nothing awkward or anything he'd be intruding on by opening the door.
She doesn't give a second thought to the lightsaber in her hand as she sets it down on the bed, squinting curiously at the stuffed llama Luke's carrying with him.]
No, I've never seen that before.
[But for all she knew, maybe Han bought it and stuffed it in Luke's room.]
Waiting for Leia come Christmas morning is a bag of cookies and a book on various braid hairstyles that are popular in Verens. Attached is a simple note:]
[ There's a package that includes a nice bottle of wine, some freshly baked homemade cookies for Leia and Han to share, and a smaller one for Leia that contains this bracelet with a note wishing her a happy holiday, and signed to let her know who it's from. ]
[Leia will receive a handwritten note ("This entitles you to one sandwich from a restaurant on me. - Finn") and a small box containing this necklace. As well as a leather collar with this charm for Kyan.]
[ Luke has a penchant for keeping some things to himself or, in a way, beating himself up over things that he's keeping to himself... both of which he's been doing for a little while now. Talking about it seems like a good idea but... it's not exactly something that he's been doing. But if there is someone that he should, Leia is more than likely his best bet, even if there's still some hesitation regarding it.
It's the very reason why he's sort of just lingering in the doorway of Leia's room, leaning against it on his shoulder with arms crossed. He doesn't really need to say anything to reveal that there's something on his mind... it shows with the thoughtful expression on his face. But he still decides to try and make some sort of light conversation to perhaps ease himself into talking to Leia about his... concerns. ]
[He really doesn't need to say anything to tell Leia that something is bothering him. Everything about his body language and him hovering around the doorway of the room tells her there's something he wants to say but can't quite figure out how to spit it out yet. Even when he's been good at keeping some things to himself, he's never been good, in Leia's opinion, at hiding when things are bothering him.]
He's at the docks, I'm sure.
[He's got a ship, and if there's one thing Han Solo loves doing, it's messing around with his ship.]
[ This is a crystal ring. At, quite possibly, the middle of the night?
But perhaps what may mark it as unusual is the fact that it's a call from someone who had been barely speaking at all for the last couple of days, shut down by grief and despair, and yet...
There's something... almost too cheerful, about the tone, a little too bubbly, voice speaking a little too quickly. ]
Well! There we go, I seem to have reached someone! Ring, ring, is that you, Leia? I do hope you weren't sleeping! I can try again a little later if you'd like, really, I hardly mind at all, I can just prattle on to myself for hours, you know, but that just might get a little dull... what if I call up Han instead, do you think he'd mind? I'm sure he wouldn't, he's always talking about something new... you do know how witty and charming he is, don't you? He'll be glad I told you that -- but really, he certainly is!
[It's an unexpected interruption but not an unwelcome one by any means. Especially since, though her arm had been healed, she'd been taking things "easy" so as to not further worry Han or her father.
So a distraction in the form of Kanan Jarrus is one she's glad to have.]
If I had known you were coming, I would've prepared something for you.
[It doesn't take a Jedi's intuition or the concerned eyes of a friend to see and empathize with the mountains of stress placed on Leia's shoulders over the past months of losing family member after family member. However, those two qualities do help when it comes to detecting the subtle changes in Leia's stature and tone. They're indicative of a woman who is used to hiding vulnerability behind a sheet of durasteel, tempered by politics and war.]
[But that can only work for so long, and if nobody else has been successful in broaching the topic (that's a big 'if'--Qui-Gon has no idea what anyone else has even attempted thus far) then perhaps the resident grandpa can do something.]
[That may or may not include his own brand of unique problem-solving skills.]
[It's an unassuming day, too hot for fall, a bit cool for summer, when Qui-Gon Jinn gently knocks on Leia's front door.]
[Leia hadn't been expecting anyone to stop by today, let alone Qui-Gon of all people. She had other vague plans she'd been hoping to complete sometime today, but for a short while (ha.......) company isn't something entirely unwelcome. Or at least not company that she generally gets along with.
When she opens the door, Leia appears a bit confused but not unpleasantly so. It's more of a pleasant surprise than anything.]
If I had known you were stopping by, I would've prepared something.
[Ezra's emotions are all over the place with even that simple call. Flustered and embarrassed and afraid and uncertain and anxious, utterly anxious, and so much more in a tangled mess that dips up and down like a roller coaster with his attempts to smooth it out and sound normal.]
[That's a mix of emotions Leia hasn't felt in a while, and as much as she's curious what's going on, she'd be lying if she said she wasn't concerned. She tries to exude some sense of calm over the connection, albeit subconsciously.]
[Leia will find a gift wrapped inside a furoshiki on Christmas day. Inside are some yuzu flavored cookies and green tea leaves that have a hint of peppermint to them. A card will be attached to the gift.]
Merry Christmas, Leia!
If you're ever in need of a good pick me up, the tea has properties that will give you happy feelings when you drink it. ~ Naruhodou
[UM???? She's not sure why this is something Ezra thought to share, but whatever the story is here behind this comment, she's torn between wanting to know what happened and believing she's better off not knowing.]
